Hardees attempts to milk attention without Paris

After all the press Carl's Jr. got with the spicy Hilton commercial, the Hardees chain is picking it up. The chain is also hoping a new spot for their Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes & Malts, this time without the help of Ms. Hilton, will milk some attention from their 18-34-year old male target as well.

Created by Mendelsohn|Zien, "Cow Shake," features a young guy pushing against a large Holstein cow in rhythm to the music of "Get Busy," by Sean Paul. The fella attempts to push the cow back and forth, making the udders swing, all in sync with the lyrics "shake that thing". The whole thing ends with the line "Milk ... Shakes."

"This ad is definitely quirky but that was the idea," said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for Hardee's. "Sean Paul is very popular with our target of 'young, hungry guys,' who make up our most loyal customers. The ad is funny in a wacky way, the music is a great dance club song, and we think the combination is a memorable way to show that our new Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes & Malts are made with real milk, real ice cream, and blended to order."

Wacky? Really? I'm not so sure about that. Reminds me a bit of the chocolate milk adverts of recent years.
