Getting into the industry... (from hbrickwood)

Since your a design student I assume you have aportfolio of design work, however, this wont do you much good in advertising. You could get a job in a studio, but you probabl;y want to be an art director, much like myself. So you need a portfolio of ads. Maybe you already have, I dont*t know. If you dont start now. Its the most important thing when it comes to landing a job. Pick some products, try to pick ones that have a unique selling point (No condoms or hot sauce) and craete ads for them.

If you already have a portfolio just show call up agencies you like get the name of the creative director and send it to him. Even if you dont get a job you can get advice on how to improve your work. Then just keep working on your book till you land a job.
