Do you mean the 1986 series of ads directed by Eric Saarinen? In that case contact Plum Productions, they should know since they made the ads.

I think these were in 1989.
They featured a couple driving from Chicago to Rio in a Pathfinder.

The New York Times mentions the campaign and Shootonline says:
